Softwares on my computer
The table below shows changes of softwares installed on my computer during the past several years. The trends are :
1. Pirate softwares are replaced as soon as nice free/open source wares are available
2. Installed softwares are replaced by green soft wares
3. Computer-based wares are replaced by internet services
Currently 90% of softwares on my computer are green ones, which save much trouble after I re-install the system. All the softwares in my computer are either purchased (Win-XP with Dell), or free or open-source ones. The office suite is touched less and less. Most of my documents are processed online with Google Docs&Spreadsheets and then saved as PDF files.
The most frequently used softwares on my computer are Total Commander and Firefox.
I am looking forward to the day when I need not any softwares, when access to the Internet provides everything.
Google is stepping into such a future.
Microsoft has missed it.

Interesting, regarding your software choices, because they are poor choices. Example, why use Windows, which is all proprietary software, which limits you with DRM, IRM, TPM, DMI, WGA censorship, when in fact you could be using open source software solutions (which don’t make you a pirate), that allow everyone to contribute, such as the once choice you left off from your list, that you are obviously using here – WordPress!
Another is Linux, even China uses Red Flag, good enough for the Communist Party and Red Hat for Corporate America…
For those that do not know, Internet services – Cloud computing is not about providing what they promise, it’s all about capitalism, by profiteering from selling you those services… nickel and dime you!
And when they host your data, they can censor, delete or do whatever they want with your work…
How convenient for these authorities and corporations, who without moral values, do not hesitate to turn you in whenever it pleases them.
Stick with independence, or become completely dependent upon them, if you still think they know best, to make the decisions for you…

What is much more productive you haven’t even mention at all..
Consider how the world’s biggest usage of bandwidth is not mail, is not the web browsing, or even FTP, VPN or otherwise…
It is Peer to Peer file sharing…. \the people’s own method of distribution!
Another disruptive technology even more powerful which is held back by those profiteering on traditional technologies, is Mesh Networking, which allows everyone to create and join their own networks!
Why must there be only on choice, from your ISP, who by the way limits what you can do, as more and more of the time, hosting your own website is becoming forbidden.
Why must email be limited to 2MB, 10 or 20MB per a message, only because your ISP? When you can use unlimited email size, based upon P2P technologies…
Haven’t you noticed, the Internet hasn’t been about what is good for society, it’s about money, making money for whom? Why must everyone be limited to what they say, when we could be correcting what is incorrect, with real facts, real data without propaganda? Meaning, instead of developing an ignorant society with forbidden knowledge, we the people instead advance and evolve our society as a whole, to overcome faulty thinking, poor decisions…
Think about it… just in China alone, some 1.3 billion individuals all having to repeat same mistakes over and over, as nobody in political power wants to let them rise above…. that is to let them discover what works and what does not, to provide and constantly improve the correct working solution for all people to use and benefit…
It’s the same with education… when you have a great master (teacher) why should that experience be shared, rather than a poor teacher who presently without much experience teaches in China?
The world has been made into commercialism, and if you study that, you see that profiteering economy is most certainly not a sustainable economy at all…
It’s not software that is great, it is what people do, perhaps with software, that defines what action is to be great…
These days people seek knowledge, not wisdom. Knowledge is of the past, wisdom is of the future. 我从中国来
